Accomplishments
The transformation in Haledon under the Stampone Administration can be seen throughout the entire community. By always putting Haledon first, great progress has been made. From holding the line on the municipal budget by consolidating departments, ending waste, and reducing spending, Haledon’s fiscal health continues to improve. Most importantly, Mayor Stampone has lowered Haledon’s municipal debt by over $3 million dollars so it is not passed onto to our children and the next generation. By reducing the Mayor and Council salaries by 10%, enacting Haledon’s first anti-nepotism law to end wasteful hiring practices, and fighting against political patronage jobs, the Stampone Administration is working everyday to create a more efficient municipal government.
By spearheading the Belmont Avenue Streetscape, redeveloping the St. Mary’s Church zone, and working with Congressman Pascrell to secure $1.7 million dollars in federal stimulus funds to modernize the sewer systems, the Stampone Administration has been reworking the face and infrastructure of Haledon. Furthermore, Haledon’s only park, Roe Street Field, was renovated for the first time in 60 years at no cost to Haledon taxpayers though the County Open Space Program.
Outside the box thinking by Mayor Stampone has had positive affects for the residents of Haledon. By securing two electric vehicles – at no cost to taxpayers – services are improving and our quality of life is enhanced. By signing the Mayor’s Climate Protection pledge there is a renewed effort to protect our environment and embrace energy efficient policies.
Although much progress has been made, there is still work to be done. The Stampone Team will continue putting Haledon first and moving our community forward in the new decade. They are dedicated to serving their neighbors and will work everyday to ensure Haledon is one of the best communities in Passaic County and New Jersey to live, work, and play.
